Changing Seasons, Switching Gears, Art Shows and Fundraiser
Happy Greetings from El Palmar!
I hope that all of you across the world are healthy and content. For most, there seems
to be some lighter times coming. Here in Panama we have had early rains, so our
“winter” or rainy season has begun. We have had low Covid numbers for some time
now and hence much more freedom to move about. So I have been out hiking and
chasing waterfalls in the lovely mountains. How those refreshing rivers and spectacular
views revive my soul!
Art studio life here in Playa El Palmar is marvelous. The eternal sounds of ocean
waves keep me company and are transformed into the rhythmic moving forms that
appear in my paintings. I am still working in my series of Mar y Tierra- combining sea
and earth images. It has been rewarding to see and feel both these elements together.
A New Mar y Tierra Series Painting:
This painting was originally completed last year with the title “Viaje Escondido”. I felt it
was very tight, maybe too much red. It did not feel right so I repainted it, keeping the
octopus”. It now has the feeling that I want to express— floating, flowing, atmospheric.
I have been busy with two past shows this year:
This one, “Con Todas Las Corrientes” took place virtually last year in Argentina. On Feb 20 this year it was presential there in Buenas Aires.
International Women’s Day- Los Angeles
In March my mixed media painting called “El Fin de los Tiempos Oscuros” was juried into an international Women’s Day show in MS Art Gallery in Los Angeles, California.
Hotel Eclipse Exhibition (Currently ongoing)
My latest exhibition is at the Hotel Eclipse in the San Carlos District in Panama. I was invited to exhibit eleven of my paintings in a group showing there that opened on March 26th. If you are in Panama Waze can take you there very easily. It is on the Las Lajas Road only 15 minutes off the PanAmerican Highway.
3er Exposición Internacional Virtual de Ecuador
I was recently invited to participate in the 3er Exposición Internacional Virtual de Ecuador. One of my newest paintings “Vivir Sin Miedo” will be showing in this exhibit.
With all the turmoil going on about the vaccine, I got off track in the last couple of months. I worried if could get vaccinated in time for a family trip. Worried about the safety factors on the planes. Worried if I could sit with a mask on for so many hours on all the planes from here to Hawaii to Japan and back to Panama. I was stuck in worry and fear. After talking to a friend she reminded me to get back on the positive track that I have been on since the inception of Covid 19. I realized I had fallen off my peaceful path. Keeping fear in my heart did not help in any way. Soon after I set aside my fears. And Voila! All is falling into place! So the bottom line for me is let go of the worry of what MIGHT happen OR not happen and “Live Without Fear” by staying in the moment.
