What People are Saying

Chrisse is a high-energy artist, photographer, explorer and educator with a creative vision that brings a unique international perspective to her art, journeys and classes.

Chrisse Harwanko was one of the very few artists that we were drawn to early on when we arrived in Panama some years ago. Although she is best known for her magical paintings, we also feel a deep connection to her extraordinary photographs that she has shot on her many exotic dives around the world.

We were thrilled to purchase one of her large paintings for our home, which excites us as much now, as it did the day she delivered it. Her ability to paint an abstract version of what she absorbs on those dives is enthralling. There is so much captivating detail that I often find myself fully engaged viewing its beauty and complexity. Each of her paintings has a resounding soul.

As an interior designer for several decades I often found myself involved in curating many art collections for avid collectors, any of Chrisse’s pieces would be welcome additions.

Chrisse brings a unique perspective to all her art. If we all looked at the world through Chrisse’s eyes, the world would be a better place.

I first met Chrisse in 2015 through a close friend and was extremely impressed with all her artwork, in particular her acrylic paintings. I particularly liked her use of vibrant colours in conjunction with a layering structure that provided a feeling of texture and differing dimensions. I found that her art provided a new stimulation each time I viewed them, depending on your mood or different lighting.

I initially purchased ‘Tidal Flow’ and ‘Atmospheric Collisions’ from her studio and was inspired to commission Chrisse to paint a further acrylic composition, later called ‘Carnival of Colours’. I requested a painting employing bold and vibrant colours in a tropical reef environment using Chrisse’s observations from her diving experiences. The consultation process in establishing the topic and form between Chrisse and I was very professional. Chrisse kept me advised of her progress throughout the development of the painting and was always receptive of any comment I had.

What Chrisse painted proved to be all that I requested, and more.

Ms. Harwanko has a gift for taking the minutiae that most of us never ever see and transforming it into something so fantastic that we can’t take our eyes off of it.

I love the way Chrisse blends colors, textures and mediums while maintaining both realism and respect for nature! I have seen her abilities with underwater photography grow and how this has impacted her artwork over the years. Her art and U/W photography are inextricably linked and I love it!
